Gold slides as U.S. asset plan cheers investors

Reuters(UK) reports gold falls almost 3 percent in Europe on Friday after the U.S. government reported it will deal with risky bank assets. Gold, Platinum fall as investors sell commodities to raise cash

Bloomberg.com reports gold price fell with investors having to sell commodities to cover costs. Gold futures for December delivery fell $6.50, or 0.8 percent, to $780.50 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. The metal has dropped 6.9 percent this year.
