Spot gold in Sydney was at $US713 an ounce, down $US23.80 on yesterday’s local close. Gold miners were weaker, with Newcrest Mining down 4.38 %to $20.08, Newmont Mining was 19 cents lower to $3.79 and Lihir Gold lost 13 cents to $1.86.
