Bloomberg.com reports Gold Fields faces $11 billion rand over claims on Western Areas Ltd to secure control of the world’s biggest gold deposit.

Gold Fields received a summons from Randgold and Exploration Company Ltd. and African Strategic Investment Ltd., the company said in a statement to Johannesburg’s Stock Exchange News Service today. It will defend the claim.
