Overview
High Desert Gold Corporation has a portfolio of gold properties in the US and Mexico. After its IPO in 2007, High Desert was the target of a hostile take-over bid in 2008. High Desert has emerged intact and is now moving forward on the Gold Springs Project on the Nevada/Utah border and the Canasta Dorada Project in Sonora Mexico.
Chief Properties
USA
Gold Springs – Nevada and Utah, USA
The Gold Springs Project is divided between eastern Lincoln County, Nevada and Western Iron County, Utah. It covers an estimated 4,780 acres, and consists of 250 unpatented lode claims. The Company announced that drilling began at Gold Springs on June 8, 2010, and results will be received in July 2010.
This new drilling program will expand on historical drill results on the Jumbo target, which was drilled by Energex in 1988 and Astral Mining in 2006. This new round of drilling will also explore three new gold targets including one called the Midnight Zone, which has been traced for over 2,000 meters with widths of up to 200 meters. The historical drilling on three sections within a 300 metre segment of the 1000 metre long “Jumbo Zone”, returned very encouraging, potentially ore-grade gold-silver results.
*J88-1, J88-2, J88-4 and J88-6 end in mineralization of 1.54, 0.33, 0.5 and 0.41gpt gold respectively.
- Gold Equivalent grade was obtained using the following prices: gold US$1,000/oz and silver US$16/oz.
- True width: The structural zone has irregular boundaries so true width is difficult to determine accurately, however, it is approximately ¾ of the down-hole length.
MEXICO
Canasta Dorada Project – Sonora Mexico
Located along the historically very productive Sonora Gold Belt, the Canasta Dorada Project lies in the northwest corner of Sonora State, Mexico. The Canasta Dorada gold property consists of a total of seven concessions, covering approximately 59,800 acres.
This region has seen increased attention since the 1990s, with many new deposits currently being mined to exploit lower-grade deposits. The nearest mine to Canasta is the 1.5 million El Chanate mine of Capital Gold and the largest mine in the trend is the La Herradura mine ( >6 million oz) which is owned by Newmont Gold and Penoles.
In 2008, the Company completed a 5,000 metre diamond drilling program on the property. The drill program intersected strong gold mineralization with the same geological style as the El Chanate mine, indicating potential for significant mineralization in the area.
San Antonio Project– Sonora, Mexico
High Desert Gold holds four concessions which cover approximately 10,453 acres (4,230 hectares). The Company recently announced positive preliminary exploration results in preparation for the first drilling program on the property, scheduled to begin in the Third Quarter of 2010. A total of 187 samples were collected from the property. Assays include the following:

The Company has also obtained historical technical reports commissioned by Campbell Resources in 1992. These reports provide additional insight and substantiate High Desert Gold’s interpretation of the property’s geology. The historical reports include estimates based on earlier drill results that indicate a potential resource of one million tonnes grading 10 grams per tonne gold, within close proximity to the main structural zone. The Company plans to drill these areas to confirm and expand on past drilling results. The resource estimate was completed prior to the NI 43-101 statue and the Company does not rely on these results but believes they represent useful background data on the property.
This property was first explored at the turn of the century with small-scale underground mining, and a small scale surface excavation was completed within the past 20 years. While this region is a historically world-class gold and silver mining region, there has been little to no modern exploration within 80 km of the San Antonio Project.
